Strategic Intelligence Analyst

About the Role

ELDR Intelligence is the firm's research and analysis function — producing briefs, reports, and signals intelligence on the issues that shape institutional decision-making. The Strategic Intelligence Analyst sits at the core of that function, developing structured analysis on geopolitical trends, sovereign risk, regulatory shifts, and capital market dynamics. You will contribute to ELDR's published research library, advise on client engagements, and help maintain the firm's intelligence edge across its priority markets in Africa, North America, and the United Kingdom.

Responsibilities

• Author structured intelligence briefs, risk assessments, and strategic research reports across ELDR's core coverage areas — Africa, financial regulation, energy, and sovereign markets
• Monitor geopolitical, regulatory, and institutional developments in priority jurisdictions and translate them into decision-relevant analysis
• Contribute to ELDR Signal — the firm's daily intelligence feed — with concise, well-sourced analytical items
• Support client engagements requiring geopolitical or regulatory risk context, briefing materials, or scenario analysis
• Conduct primary source research including government publications, multilateral reports, regulatory filings, and institutional documents
• Maintain the firm's source and reference infrastructure for assigned coverage regions
• Collaborate with the Advisory and Consulting practices to develop intelligence products tailored to client mandates

Requirements

• 5–10 years of experience in strategic intelligence, geopolitical risk analysis, think tank research, or policy analysis
• Demonstrated ability to produce structured analytical writing on complex political, regulatory, or economic topics for senior audiences
• Deep familiarity with at least one of ELDR's priority domains: African markets, financial regulation, energy systems, or sovereign risk
• Strong research methodology skills — source evaluation, structured argumentation, evidence-based conclusions
• Excellent written English; ability to write with precision, clarity, and appropriate institutional register
• Comfort operating in a high-output, deadline-driven research environment
• Bachelor's degree required; graduate-level training in international relations, economics, law, or public policy strongly preferred

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in a government intelligence, central bank, multilateral institution, or international consultancy environment
• Working knowledge of French, Arabic, Portuguese, or a major West/East African language
• Familiarity with financial regulatory systems — Basel, FedRAMP, MiFID, GDPR, FATF, or related frameworks
• Experience producing intelligence for financial services, private equity, or sovereign wealth fund clients
